my first prints - taken during culturefest, behind the scenes at newcomb dining hall. the top one is a tad too dark, probably need to reprint it. bottom one is a little fuzzy, but that's because the negative itself isn't in focus. so i can't do anything abt it.
halloween was spent first, at nic's place, watching fifteen, eating kacang putih and tausuan, and pregaming. then we headed off to sakura for the angel and demons party (nothing angelic or demonic about it). my first real party in charlottesville actually.
ning the spy/bus boy, me the french maid

the phantoms - jervis & dominic
stalker venessa, and jonathan.. they came as themselves, spooky enough!
i just wished two good friends from primary school happy 21st birthday. ive know them for more than ten years now. its nice, and yet scary, to be able to say that. how we've grown up, but not quite. funnily, my best and most vivid memories of them are of tiny little girls in blue (or yellow-team pe shirts).

so indecisive me has another dilemma.. here's the deal, help me out please?
Option 1: Nicaragua in January I applied for J-term in Nicaragua, and got it. It's basically a 3 credit class, and hopefully an easy A, which I need desperately to pull up my GPA. (I did some calculations, and I need 30 credits of A's to get my GPA up to stb standards, which is basically perfect score for these two semesters.) If I do J-term, then I have the option of taking only 12 credits next semester and take it easy. And I get to visit Nicaragua, which is kinda cool. One problem is that stb is taking a long time to say yes to funding it. It'd be a clear option if they said no, but right now its just left hanging and I have to pay the full amount by Oct 19.
Option 2: Bus driver training in January training is during the first two weeks of january, before school starts, which coincides with J-term. I really like the idea of driving a bus. haha. Seriously, I would never get another opportunity like this in my life time. haha. Imagine me, driving a school bus. And I get to earn money, which will go to post-graduation travelling funds. Which I need desperately too.
one cool thing about charlottesville, and uva, is that we have secret societies here. they go by names such as the seventh society, AMP and the pumpkin society. the pumpkin society goes around during halloween all dressed up, giving out pumpkins to people who have contributed significantly to the university. some society also supports the entertainment aspect of uva, and i think donates money to the greek clubs here.
so i went to speak to my anthro prof about my next essay. and he invites me to a dinner organized by the seventh society. *eeeps!* i dont know and i dont think he's a member, and i dont know if members of the seventh society will be there at the dinner (since it's all annonymous and secret, nobody knows who they are). but how cool would it be if i got recruited to join the secret society?? haha.
so im saying this now, in case i really do become part of it, because i'd have to be sworn to secrecy and i wont be able to share it with anyone. dam, i cant put it on my resume either. hahaahha
ps: according to my prof, the seventh society might have affiliations/associations/some sort of relation with the ku klux klan. not too far a stretch, what with the very white-ist (?) orientation of this area.
i am the girl who never crawled but instead learned to first move around on her butt. i am the girl who'd wake up every morning and cry when her mum was getting ready to go to work. i am the girl whose parents forgot to enroll her in nursery school. i am the girl who won the erasing contest with her paint palette eraser, not because she had the best eraser, but because she used the most force. i am the girl who'd do her work first thing when she got back from kindergarten, but i am also the girl who later on played in her uniform until 10 at night before coming home to do her work. i am the girl who carried her worksheets around in a tattered paper bag. and mysteriously lost the whole bag one day. i am the girl who tore the corners of her sister's workbook because she wanted her mum's attention. i am the girl who cried because she didnt know how to spell 'together'. and then learnt that it was spelt to-get-her. i am the girl who tore up a play script because she didnt get to choose what play her group was going to put up. i am the girl who lost a wallet every year, and tingxie books and shou ces about 5 times a year. i am the girl who's pri4 chinese teacher thought she was not good enough for higher chinese, but later on got A1 for alevel chinese (im not sure if that means anything). but i am the girl who couldnt answer when this lady asked her in mandarin how much the fairy costume at disney store cost. i am the girl who came back from recess every PE lesson with dented specs cos she sucked at basketball. i am the girl who went to coffeebean almost everyday after school, and sat in the elevators up and down till she felt nauseous cos she was bored. i am the girl who stood on the escalator and along the walkway to the taka toilets doing funny poses. in her SCGS uniform. *gasp* i am the girl who collaborated with her friend to boil and decorate eggs, and placed them outside her classroom door, for easter. i am the girl who carried a basket of muffins to school on valentines day. i am the girl who skipped school to watch 'the divine secrets of the yaya sisterhood'. i am the girl who eats all the biscuits in the house. and i am the girl whose family is reminded of her when they see the biscuits piling up. i am the girl who sets high expectations for herself, who achieved them fairly easily in the past, but finds herself slipping further away from them now.
